And America knows this and that’s why our leaders are so ready to launch preemptive strikes. Remember what I said weeks ago. Hate crushed to earth rises again. That hate will not disappear until we transcend a tribalism that is too strong and too loyal. We’ve got to reinvest in the individual in America, in the family, in our churches, in our country; and ask at all of these levels that we reinvest in what is important— building the spirit of humanity, not the spirit of hate.   Reinvest in creating the best school system in the world that teaches the true American ideal of peace, liberty and justice for all. Yes, reinvest in people not in things. We must believe in love not hate. Sophia Fahs’s words come to mind as I close: (poem read)

“Some beliefs are like walled gardens. They encourage exclusiveness, and the feeling of being especially privileged. Other beliefs are expansive and lead the way into wider and deeper sympathies. Some beliefs are like shadows, clouding children’s days with fears of unknown calamities. Other beliefs are like sunshine, blessing children with the warmth of happiness.”
It matters what we believe. Amen
