Our
Mission MISSION
STATEMENT Most Unitarian Universalist (UU) members, outside of New England, were not born to this faith. For most of us it is a faith which developed during many years of individual seeking. We welcome you as a friend, to continue your search in fellowship with other seekers. Membership in this church is open to any person who wishes to pursue the UU practice of religion. To join, you sign our membership book and make a contribution of record. Please note that the book you sign upon visiting is the visitor book. If you have visited and are ready to sign the membership book, please speak with our minister or one of our leaders. The ease with which a person may join a UU church speaks to our intellectual freedom and our universalism, but not to our commitment. To support what we affirm and believe as a liberal religion requires our skill, our labor, our care for one another, and our money. Our membership denotes a willingness to be identified with Unitarian Universalist principles and a commitment to them with both speech and action.
The Davies Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church (DMUUC) organization is democratically run. The members of the Board of Trustees are elected at our annual congregational meeting. They meet monthly and the meetings are open. The Board of Trustees are liaisons to the standing committees, which include: Religious Education, Operations, Worship, Music, Adult Programs, Growth and Public Relations, Finance, Membership, and Endowment. If you'd like to join a committee, please speak to a leader - membership is not required to serve. Our church staff consists of a Minister, a Director of Religious Education, an Administrator, and a Minister of Music. DMUUC is financially self-supporting and entirely dependent upon the contributions made by its members and friends and through our fundraising events. If you'd like to communicate online with other members and friends, please check out our email lists. 25 Ways You Can Help Our Congregation Grow LAY LEADERSHIP TIPS & TOOLS FROM THE UUA InterConnections is a newsletter & searchable resource for lay leaders. Other resources for UUs are on the Links page.
