We at Davies Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church have a beautiful and functional building (exterior photos here, some interior photos on Services page) in a convenient location representing the dedication and investment of the congregation. We encourage the widest use of our facilities in furthering the program of the church and in serving the community.

The primary purpose of our building is to provide facilities for the program and activities of the church, its members, and its committees and affiliated organizations.

We seek also to make the building available to others in our community as a place for devotion, for work, for education, or for recreation, without, however, assuming responsibility for the opinions or activities of any organization which is not officially connected with the church.

Our church is dedicated to the search for and dissemination of truth about the world, humankind and society. We are opposed to authoritarianism and totalitarianism and to any anti-democratic organization which restricts freedom of mind or body. We regard the rights of our neighbors of whatever status, race or belief to be as precious as our own. We defend the right of minorities to express their views no matter how much we may disagree with them.

Outside groups using the building must make it clear that the church does not sponsor them nor does it necessarily endorse their views. The church will assume the risk of misunderstanding inherent in the vagaries of public opinion.

Any organization which practices discrimination as to race, creed, national origin, disability, gender or sexual orientation may not use the church facilities. If your event is advertised or announced as being open to the public, all persons who present themselves must be admitted within the capacity of the facilities contracted for regardless of race, creed, national origin, disability, gender or sexual orientation.

The church is available for weddings, engagement parties, baby showers, birthday parties, poetry readings, music recitals, and meetings. Fees vary depending upon which rooms will be used and the number of hours. Please contact the church office by email with details of your event or call 301-449-4308.
