INTRODUCTION

Davies Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church has devised a fulfilling program of social and cultural activities to stimulate the mind and spirit, and -- to heck with it -- to have a good time! Check our calendar for dates and opportunities. Directions to join us.

A Course in Miracles
A Course in Miracles helps one "undo the past in the present, and thus release the future". A study group meeting Monday evenings 7 - 8:30 pm. Read more

Book Discussion
The Emerson group meets at member’s homes throughout the year to discuss books.

Dinning Out has become a very popular Adult Program activity. Once a month we select one of the Washington area's more interesting restaurants for a shared meal. Notice we said interesting, not necessarily expensive. So if your taste runs from Thai to Mexican, Afghan to plain old down home American, you can indulge your palate and your spirit of adventure.

Movies and Munchies
For a quieter, more intimate social encounter, we feature monthly get-togethers at church members' homes. Friends get together to shoot the breeze. Movies and Munchies includes enjoying a movie together that is usually not easily found at the local video store, which is occasionally followed by a discussion and other times just more socializing. back to top

Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch meets the last Tuesday of each month at area restaurants. For more information, contact Roz Winard at roslynwinard[at]netzero.net.

Outdoor Activities
An outdoor activity (hike, bike ride, etc) is often scheduled for members to get together and enjoy nature. back to top

Small Group Ministry
The power and purposes of Small Group Ministry (SGM):
Intimacy: SGM helps build community and provides opportunities for friendship.
Ultimacy: SGM provides an opportunity for deeper spiritual exploration and the search for meaning.

Parlor Chats are conversations on a particular subject (to be announced) held every other third Sat. at member homes. Children may be able to come and play/watch videos in adjacent room; please call host in advance if you're interested in having your children attend. back to top

Please check the Adult Programs bulletin board in the church lounge, the nUUsletter, and the Order of Service, for further information about upcoming events. Check the hall bulletin board and the literature rack for information about other Washington area UU activities.

For more information about the above programs, email your questions at least a couple days before the event or reservation deadline.

Social Action Programs
As we strive to live by our principles, we have numerous social action projects in which our members and friends can join, such as: Green Sanctuary, Beacon House Community Ministry, Adopt-a-Road, and Christmas in April. read more... back to top

Adult Religious Education
Davies’ mission for Adult Religious Education (ARE) is to introduce and maintain programs that will focus on creating meaningful and knowledgeable relationships, engaging members in social justice issues and activities, and renewing the spirit and fellowship of the Davies Congregation. Some classes have included: Building Your Own Theology, and A.D.O.R.E. (A Dialogue on Race and Ethnicity). For more information, check here for the latest offerings or contact our Adult Religious Education Chair at adultre@dmuuc.org or our minister. back to top
