About Us

WHO: Davies Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church is a congregation of all ages, from different religious backgrounds, who gather together for spiritual and social community. (Members' photos are dispersed throughout this site. Some of them have participated in lay services. Some of them have web sites listed on the Links page. Talk to them on our email lists.)

WHY: To celebrate our joys and sorrows together. To embrace and be embraced by a caring community. To see the many reasons why people enjoy our community, see our Testimonials and about our members' beliefs.

HOW: Through Sunday morning worship services, religious education classes for children and youth, sharing food and socializing, celebrations, email conversations, and many other activities and programs. (See more information from links to the right.) Also, you can check out our Visitor FAQ and Acronyms to understand us better.

WHEN: Sunday morning services start at 10:30 AM. Children usually join the adults for the first 15 mins. and then go to religious education classes with their teachers. Other activities are listed on our Calendar. Please note that some of the listed events are not sponsored by the church, but by our renters. WHERE: Davies Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church is located at 7400 Temple Hill Rd. in Camp Springs, southern Prince George's County, Maryland - just 10 mi. from southeast DC. See our map and directions.

Members and friends ("friends" are people who attend regularly and/or have participated for a while, but have not officially signed the membership book) are from these towns and counties: In Maryland, Prince George's County: Accokeek, Brandywine, Camp Springs, Cheverly, Clinton, District Heights, Forestville, Fort Washington, Friendly, Ft. Washington, Greenbelt, Marlton, Mitchellville, Oxon Hill, Suitland, Temple Hills, Upper Marlboro; Charles County: Indian Head, Port Tobacco, Waldorf, LaPlata, White Plains, Chicamuxen; Calvert County: Chesapeake Beach, Dunkirk, Owings, Solomons, Sunderland; Montgomery County: Silver Spring; Baltimore; Frederick County: Emmitsburg; Anne Arundel County: Deale, Tracys Landing; In Virginia: Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church; and Washington, D.C. There are also members and friends who have moved out of the area and even overseas (e.g. Germany, Brazil) who stay in touch and visit occasionally.
