Adult Religious Education ClassesWelcome
& Mission According to the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), “Exploring religious truth, meaning and experience is central to Unitarian Universalist faith, and faith development is central to our liberal religious education. …” “Adult religious education programs embody the transformational, self-directed learning that lies at the heart of Unitarian Universalism. Unitarian Universalism helps adults use their own personal stories to share their religious journeys; explore fundamental religious questions and theological concerns; build relationships with others; explore moral and ethical questions from a liberal religious perspective; and become familiar with the foundations of our liberal religion.” Davies’ mission for Adult Religious Education (ARE) is to introduce and maintain programs that will focus on creating meaningful and knowledgeable adult classes, engaging members in social justice issues and activities, and renewing the spirit and fellowship of the Davies Congregation. We hope that you will explore the many options offered to you this spring as you continue your free and responsible search for truth and meaning.

Welcoming Congregation Description: DMUUC has set a course to become an officially recognized Welcoming Congregation by the UUA. Sessions: Saturday, February

Own Theology (BYOT) Within a community context, individuals reflect on their religious experiences and knowledge and create their own credos. Part I invites each person to write his or her spiritual odyssey and examines a structure for a liberal theological model, varieties of religious experience, human nature, ultimate reality, history, ethics, and religious meaning. Part II & III continues the process of theological meaning-making by examining truth and authority, the holy, good and evil, justice and the beloved community, suffering, death, immortality, and a doctrine of the liberal church. Our UU Story Explores UU identity within the context of the history and heritage of Unitarianism and Universalism. Readings, discussions, and activities help participants explore their spiritual development, religious attitudes, values and beliefs, and current theological trends and issues. Social Justice
